The Enemy Over Us

The devil is “the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:2b) He wants to blind people to keep them away from God. According to 2 Corinthians 4:4, “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” He hides the truth about God from people. He wants people to believe in his lies.
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44, emphasis added)
Ever since, his tactic never changed.Look at how he tempted Eve. First, he questioned the Word of God.
Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” (Genesis 3:1)

When the woman explained that God commanded not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the devil denied the Word of God, by saying, “You will not surely die.” (v. 4) And then he substituted his lie to replace the Word. “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (v. 5)

Note that nowadays we hear people challenging the clear teachings of the Bible when they ask, “Did God actually say that it’s wrong to do this or that?” Then, because they don’t like what the Bible taught, they would deny it and try to reinterpret it according to what they want it to say.
For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4, New Living Translation)

But we have to keep on seeking and teaching the truth, reaching out to people even if they reject it. By God’s grace, the truth shall open the eyes of those blinded by the enemy.
We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this. (2 Corinthians 4:2, New Living Translation. Emphasis added.)
“Spiritual Warfare” Step

According to French mathematician Blaise Pascal (1623-1662), “Truth is so obscure in these times, and falsehood so established, that, unless we love the truth, we cannot know it.” Read 2 Thessalonians 2:9-15. How do we show that we “love the truth”
